SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS STRATEGY – A HISTORY OF GREEN WORKPLACE

Green Workplace is a program of Sustainable Community Enterprises Inc. (SCE).
Sustainable Community Enterprises provides fee-for-service Green Workplace consulting and
workplace sustainability training to the business community. We are a team of young environmental professionals,
committed to implementing sustainable innovation in the way we live and work. Part of our own sustainable
business strategy is to build long-term partnerships with our clients. This ensures that progress can be
nurtured by managing the implementation of our recommendations, and by making use of cutting-edge
environmentally-friendly products and technologies.

Started in 2001, Green Workplace’s sustainable business consulting grew out of a program of
the Environmental Youth Alliance (EYA). EYA is a youth-focused community development organization
that provides career development services for young environmental professionals.

As part of its sustainable business strategy, EYA ran Green Workplace as a free government-funded sustainable
business consulting service for public and private organizations. Once government funding ended, EYA was
obliged to ensure the program’s viability. SCE was then formed and incorporated as a social venture company
to ensure that Green Workplace services would continue to be available to businesses everywhere.
